Failed EICR Questions

My EICR has failed - what does this mean?

An EICR 'fails' if it contains C1 (danger present) or C2 (potentially dangerous) observations. These must be remedied before the installation is considered satisfactory. You'll typically have 28 days to complete repairs.

Can you fix what the previous electrician found?

Yes. We regularly complete remedial work from EICRs issued by other electricians. We'll review the report, quote for the required work, and re-test once complete to issue your satisfactory certificate.

How long do I have to fix the issues?

For C1 codes (danger present), action should be taken immediately. For C2 codes (potentially dangerous), the industry guidance is 28 days. Your EICR report will specify recommended timescales.

How much does remedial work cost?

It depends on what's needed. Simple fixes like replacing a damaged socket might be £60-80. More complex work like replacing a consumer unit or rewiring circuits will cost more. We provide clear quotes before starting.
