Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to add a socket?

Adding a socket costs from £95 if spurred from an existing socket, or from £150 if a new cable run is required from the consumer unit. Prices include the socket, installation, testing, and certification.

Can I add a socket myself?

Adding a socket by spuring from an existing one in a non-kitchen/bathroom location isn't notifiable, but we recommend using a qualified electrician to ensure safety and correct installation. Kitchens and bathrooms always require professional installation.

How many sockets can be on one ring main?

A standard ring main can serve a floor area up to 100m². In practice, there's no strict limit on socket numbers, but excessive load can cause overheating. We assess your existing circuits and add new circuits if needed.

Is it safe to add a spur from an existing socket?

Yes, if done correctly. We check that the existing socket isn't already a spur (you can't spur from a spur) and that the circuit can handle additional load. Each spur should only have one socket unless it's a fused spur.

Do you fit USB sockets?

Yes, we install sockets with built-in USB-A and USB-C charging ports. These are popular for bedrooms, home offices, and kitchens. They cost around £20-£30 more than standard sockets.
