Electrical Engineering & Condition-Based Monitoring

Thermal imaging, CBM, power quality and predictive maintenance for commercial and industrial sites across Devon, Cornwall and Somerset.

Engineering-Led Electrical Services for Serious Sites

Our electrical engineering division exists to keep commercial, industrial and infrastructure sites running — using data, not guesswork. We combine BS 7671 competence with modern condition-monitoring tools so faults are found while equipment is still healthy, insurance conditions are met, and downtime is designed out.

From a one-off thermal survey of your main distribution board to a full site-wide PPM programme with CBM, vibration analysis and asset reporting — we scale to fit your operation. Every visit produces a clear, insurer-friendly report you can hand straight to your loss adjuster, auditor or landlord.

Thermal Imaging

FLIR surveys of boards, panels & motors — find hot spots before failure.

Condition-Based Monitoring

Vibration, current, insulation & temperature trending on critical assets.

Power Quality

Harmonic, sag/swell & load logging with full engineering reports.

Insurer-Ready Reports

Written to the standard loss adjusters & auditors expect.

Control & Automation

Panel design, PLC, BMS integration & fault diagnostics.

PPM Contracts

Scheduled maintenance built around your critical assets.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is condition-based monitoring (CBM)?

CBM uses real measurements — temperature, vibration, current draw, insulation resistance, power quality — to spot faults developing in electrical equipment before they cause a failure. Instead of replacing gear on a fixed schedule, you act on hard data, which cuts downtime, insurance risk and unnecessary spend.

What does a thermal imaging survey involve?

We attend site while your equipment is under normal load, then scan distribution boards, isolators, panels, busbars, motors and connections with a calibrated FLIR thermal camera. Hot spots — loose terminals, overloaded circuits, failing breakers — show up long before they fail. You receive a full report with images, temperatures, severity ratings and recommended actions.

How often should we thermal-image our electrical installation?

For most commercial and industrial sites we recommend an annual thermal survey, dropping to 6-monthly for critical, high-load or 24/7 operations. Many insurers now ask for evidence of a thermographic survey — we provide reports in the format loss adjusters expect.

Do you cover industrial and three-phase installations?

Yes — our electrical engineering team works across three-phase distribution, HV/LV switchgear, motor control centres, PLC systems, BMS integration and process control across Devon, Cornwall and Somerset. All work is BS 7671 compliant and reported to your insurer's or auditor's standard.

Can you run a full PPM contract for our site?

Yes. We build planned preventative maintenance schedules around your critical assets — combining EICRs, thermal imaging, CBM readings, insulation testing and switchgear inspections into a single documented programme so you stay compliant and reduce reactive callouts.

Will your work disrupt production?

No. Thermal imaging and most CBM techniques are non-invasive and carried out with equipment live and under normal load — that's the whole point. Where isolations are needed for deeper inspections we schedule them around your shift patterns.
