Frequently Asked Questions

Can I have a socket in my bathroom?

Standard 13A sockets aren't permitted in bathrooms under BS 7671 (18th Edition). You can have a shaver socket (which has an isolating transformer) or sockets outside Zone 2 in very large bathrooms. We'll advise on exactly what's allowed in your specific bathroom layout.

How much does an electric shower installation cost?

Electric shower installation starts from £280 plus VAT including supply and fit. If a new circuit from the consumer unit is needed (common for higher kW showers), costs start from £350 plus VAT. We handle everything including the electrical certificate.

Do bathroom lights need to be IP rated?

Yes. Lights in Zone 1 (directly above the bath/shower) need minimum IP65 rating. Zone 2 (within 60cm of the bath) needs minimum IPX4. We only install correctly rated fittings and can advise on the best options for your bathroom.
